Mesut Ozil took to social media on Sunday evening to reveal his delight at helping Germany beat Georgia 2-0 to boost their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2016.

The Arsenal playmaker featured for the whole 90 minutes as goals from Marco Reus and Thomas Mueller handed the world champions victory as they got their Group D campaign back on track.

The victory put Germany on 10 points from their five games and level with leaders Poland before their clash with the Republic of Ireland on Sunday.

Ozil posted the picture above of himself in action for his national side and wrote: “Exactly the three points we wanted – well deserved and safe! @dfb_team #GEOGER #EuropeanQualifiers”

Ozil will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action against Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The World Cup winner has scored three goals and made five assists in 14 top-flight games for Arsene Wenger’s men this term.

The 26-year-old missed a large portion of the campaign after suffering a knee injury.
