England captain Wayne Rooney heaps praise on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane
Wayne Rooney has heaped praise on Harry Kane after the Tottenham Hotspur striker scored on his England debut against Lithuania at Wembley on Friday night.
The Three Lions skipper broke the deadlock inside four minutes before goals from Danny Welbeck and Raheem Sterling assured three points from the Euro 2016 qualifier.
Kane was introduced with less than 20 minutes remaining, and the Spurs striker scored inside 80 seconds of his debut to seal a 4-0 victory over their Group E opponents.
Manchester United striker Rooney, who needs three more goals to pass Sir Bobby Charlton’s England record, congratulate Kane on a dream England debut.
Rooney uploaded the above photo and wrote: “Good win last night and another 3 points @england Congratulations to Harry Kane on his first international goal, hopefully it’s the first of many!”
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher joked that Rooney realised that there could be a new era in English football as the Three Lions skipper watched Kane score his first international goal from the bench at Wembley.
Rooney doing that celebration all players do when they see the new kid on the block score! Like the loser at the oscars!!
