Manchester United's Marcos Rojo celebrates his 25th birthday, with Wayne Rooney among the well-wishers

Marcos Rojo took to social media to thank his fans for their support after he celebrated turning 25 on Friday.

The Manchester United defender relaxed with his friends and family at home on Thursday evening and celebrated his birthday with a glass of wine.

Rojo, who joined the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon last summer, used his Instagram account to thank his followers for their birthday wishes as he reached the landmark.

Rojo posted the picture above on his Instagram account and wrote: “Thank you to everyone for the messages & for your kindness always!”

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney also took to social media to wish his team-mate a happy 25th birthday.

Rooney shared the picture below on his own Instagram account and wrote: “Happy Birthday to my teammate and friend @marcosrojo”

Rojo and Rooney are gearing up for Manchester United’s Premier League trip to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Rojo has made 17 Premier League appearances this season since his £16m summer transfer to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon last summer.
