Sami Khedira has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent days, and Gunners fans will be hoping that Mesut Ozil had a quiet word in the ear of his compatriot during a Germany training session on Friday.

The Real Madrid midfielder was touted as a potential Arsenal target last summer, but the 27-year-old ended up remaining in the Spanish capital despite the presence of his friend Ozil at the north London side.

However, the World Cup winner has struggled to tie down a regular starting place Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid side following his return from injury, leaving the door ajar for a move away from La Liga.

Khedira and Ozil could line up together against Georgia in their Euro 2016 qualifier on Sunday, and the Arsenal midfielder posted a photo of the pair on Instagram on Friday evening.

Ozil wrote: “Two days left until the match in Georgia. We have to take the three points to Germany! #GEOGER #EuropeanQualifiers #RoadToFrance”

The World Cup winner has made just 17 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos this season after falling out-of-favour under Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Khedira has won La Liga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey since moving to the Spanish capital from Stuttgart in 2010.
