Thibaut Courtois has warned his Chelsea team-mates that they face “10 cup finals” in the Premier League title race.

The Blues extended their lead at the top of the table by a point on Sunday after a 1-1 draw with top-four chasing Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were afforded some breathing space after Manchester City lost 1-0 to Sean Dyche’s Burnley side at Turf Moor on Saturday evening.

Blues goalkeeper Courtois, who won the La Liga title with Atletico Madrid last season, admitted the west London side were disappointed with the result.

Courtois wrote on Instagram: “Chelsea 1 – Southampton 1. Not the result we hoped for yesterday. Still 10 finals to go !! Come on Chelsea !! #cfc”

Chelsea broke the deadlock against the Saints thanks to Diego Costa’s 18th Premier League goal of the season in the 11th minute in west London.

However, Nemanja Matic brought down Sadio Mane in the penalty area before half-time, allowing Dusan Tadic to level the game at 1-1 from the spot.
