The Liverpool squad looked in particularly good spirits as they trained at Melwood ahead of Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Manchester United at Anfield.

Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson appeared to be thoroughly enjoying themselves as Brendan Rodgers’ men were put though their paces ahead of the much-anticipated clash with their rivals on Merseyside.

The Reds took part in some games of football tennis in what appeared to be a light-hearted training session.

Liverpool head into Sunday’s top-four clash knowing that victory will hoist them above United and into fourth place in the Premier League table going into the final eight games of the season.

The Reds are in fine form domestically, having won eight of their last 10 Premier League games. Rodgers’ side are the only team left in the English top flight not to have lost a game in 2015.

Here are some of the best pictures from Friday’s training session at Melwood.
