Simon Mignolet could develop into a world-class goalkeeper for Liverpool, according to former Reds midfielder Dietmar Hamann.

The Belgium international kept his sixth successive clean sheet on the road in the Premier League after Liverpool were 1-0 winners against Swansea City at Liberty Stadium on Monday night.

Mignolet has kept 12 shutouts in the English top-flight this season despite a shaky start to the season which culminated in manager Brendan Rodgers dropping the 27-year-old in favour of Brad Jones.

However, former Germany international Hamann has been impressed with Mignolet’s upturn in form in 2015, backing the Liverpool number one to blossom into a top goalkeeper.

Hamann wrote on Twitter: “I’m starting to love Mignolet after giving him plenty of stick earlier in the season. Could turn out to be a top cat.”

Liverpool number one Mignolet has started 26 of the Merseyside club’s 29 Premier League games this season.

The 27-year-old has made 81 appearances in all competitions for the Reds following his £12m move to Anfield from Sunderland in the summer of 2013.
