Harry Kane could hardly contain his delight at his first England call-up on Twitter after Roy Hodgson named the striker in his Three Lions squad on Thursday.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker was rewarded for his fine Premier League form as Hodgosn named his 24-man squad for the upcoming games against Lithuania and Italy.

Kane is the highest-scoring Englishman in the Premier League this season with an impressive return of 16 goals in 25 top-flight games.

Reacting to the news of his inclusion in Hodgson’s squad, Kane thanked his followers for all their well wishes on his Twitter page.

Kane wrote: “Huge honour to be called up to the England squad! Very proud day for me and my family! Thank you all for the kind messages! #England”

Kane has scored a staggering 26 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions for the north London side this season.

The Spurs striker’s goals have helped to keep Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the race for a top-four finish.
