Watch Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny show hurling potential ahead of Irish clash
Watch Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny show off his golf (and potentially, hurling) skills
Wojciech Szczesny is expected to line up against Republic of Ireland at The Aviva on Sunday, and the goalkeeper appears to have the potential for a pretty decent hurling career if the Pole remains out-of-favour at Arsenal.
The Poland international has been relegated to the north London side’s cup goalkeeper after Arsene Wenger opted to promote David Ospina to the role of number one shot stopper after Szczesny’s disastrous New Year’s Day performance.
The 24-year-old produced an error-strewn performance in a 2-0 defeat by Southampton, and the Gunners shot stopper has made just four FA Cup appearances since the St Mary’s horror show.
However, Szczesny looked in relaxed mood on Friday morning as the Arsenal goalkeeper goofed around with Robert Lewandowski on the golf course, using his driver to smash airborne ball into the distance.
Szczesny wrote: “Team work!”
With the Gunners man set to face Poland in Dublin on Sunday, Szczesny looks to have the potential to be a pretty decent hurler.
And with GAA and Kilkenny legend Henry Shefflin retiring from the sport on Wednesday, there could be an opening for the Arsenal man if Wenger continues to leave the goalkeeper on the bench.
