Arsene Wenger has remained tight-lipped on reports that Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be sidelined for up to four weeks.

The England international was forced off in the 50th minute against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night, with Aaron Ramsey drafted in to replace the midfielder.

Initial speculation suggested that the 21-year-old forward could be out injured for around a month due to the hamstring problem.

However, Arsenal manager Wenger revealed that Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to undergo a scan on Wednesday to determine the severity of the hamstring issue.

“Chamberlain has a hamstring strain,” Wenger told Arsenal’s website on Wednesday afternoon.

“The only thing we don’t know is how bad it is because usually the scans are only done 48 hours after the accident. That will be done today [Wednesday].”

Wenger added that Jack Wilshere isn’t yet back training following a minor ankle operation, whilst French midfielder Mathieu Flamini is training with the first team.

“Jack is progressing well, he is not back in training yet. Mathieu is training, he could be available for the squad on Saturday,” Wenger continued.

Wenger also confirmed that £16m January signing Gabriel Paulista should make a return to training with his Arsenal colleagues on Sunday.

Wenger added: “”Gabriel may be [available] next week, he should come back into training on Sunday or Monday.”

Arsenal ended a nine-year wait for a victory at Old Trafford after goals from Nacho Monreal and Danny Welbeck sealed a 2-1 victory over Manchester United in FA Cup quarter-final.
