Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger casts doubt on Wojciech Szczesny’s future
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hoping that Wojciech Szczesny will stay at the north London side
Arsene Wenger has hinted that Wojciech Szczesny could leave Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The Poland international has been out-of-favour at the north London club over the past couple of months after an error-strewn performance in a 2-0 defeat by Southampton on New Year’s Day.
Arsenal boss Wenger has been starting Szczesny in the north London club’s FA Cup games, but summer signing David Ospina has retained his place in between the sticks for the club’s Premier League games.
Seria A outfit Roma are reportedly keeping close tabs on Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper, however, Wenger is hopeful that the 24-year-old may opt to stay at Emirates Stadium.
“I hope yes, but at the moment it is very difficult to answer that question. What is important is Saturday,” Wenger is quoted as saying by reporters at his media conference on Thursday morning.
Szczesny has been Arsenal’s number one for the best part of three seasons, although the Gunners man has been dropped on several occasions.
The Polish shot stopper could feature against Reading in the first FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday.
