Santi Cazorla reveals that he is hoping to return to former club Real Oviedo at some point in the future
Santi Cazorla has revealed that he is hoping to rejoin former club Real Oviedo at some point in the future.
The Arsenal playmaker has been in inspired form for the north London side so far this season, with the midfielder having helped the Gunners move up to second place in the Premier League table.
Cazorla’s future has been a source of speculation in recent weeks, with Atletico Madrid reported to be interested in bringing him back to Spain this summer.
But the midfielder, whose contract expires in the summer of 2018, has now revealed that he wants to move back to his boyhood club at some point in the future.
Speaking to AS about a potential return to Real Oviedo on day, Cazorla said: “It is the club where I grew up from nine to 18.
“I spent my career there, I learned a lot as a player and hopefully I can wear that shirt. In the short term it will be difficult, but hopefully in a few years I can do that.
“It is the team of which I was, I am, and will be a supporter of for all of my life.”
Cazorla has scored eight goals in all competitions for Arsenal so far this season.
He will be expecting to feature when Arsenal take on Reading in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley on Saturday.
