Arsenal transfers: Victor Wanyama talks up Gunners move
Victor Wanyama claims that Arsenal are keen on signing him from Southampton this summer
Victor Wanyama has fuelled the speculation linking him with a summer transfer to Arsenal by claiming that the Gunners are keen to sign him.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the midfielder in recent months as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
Arsenal are also thought to be keeping tabs on Wanyama’s fellow Southampton team-mate Morgan Schneiderlin as the Gunners look to add to their midfield options.
Now, Wanyama has claimed that Arsenal are keen on signing him but insists that he is currently focused on performing for Southampton until the end of the season.
Wanyama is quoted as saying by Metro: “Wenger has been talking about me. He has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer.
“Arsenal are a great club and I’d love to play Champions League football as I loved being on that stage with Celtic.
“But we’ve had a fantastic season at Saints and I want to stay focused on helping the club qualify for Europe.
“Then we’ll see where I end up in the summer.”
The Kenyan is thought to be valued at around £20m by Southampton.
Arsenal return to Premier League action when they host Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Gunners are currently second in the table and 10 points behind Jose Mourinho’s leaders.
