Arsene Wenger rejects speculation linking Jack Wilshere with a transfer away from Arsenal this summer
Arsene Wenger has laughed off suggestions that Arsenal could move to sell Jack Wilshere this summer, insisting that the Gunners have no need to sell any of their top players.
The defending Premier League champions have been linked with a summer bid for the England international along with Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson as Manuel Pellegrini considers bolstering his squad ahead of next season.
Wilshere has not featured for the north London club since late November due to a series of ankle injuries but is now closing in on a comeback for Wenger’s side.
Wenger was quizzed about the speculation linking the 23-year-old with a move away from Arsenal during a news conference at Arsenal’s training ground on Thursday morning.
And the Frenchman insists that there is no truth in the reports suggesting that the Gunners would consider an offer of more than £30m for Wilshere.
“You can imagine my answer [about the rumours] and send it to Sky Sports News,” Wenger told reporters. “We are not in a position any more where we have to sell our best players.
