Arsene Wenger warns Chelsea: Arsenal are waiting for you to slip up

The Arsenal manager tells his side to keep the pressure up on the Premier League leaders as season reaches its climax

Arsene Wenger has warned Chelsea that his Arsenal team are ready to capitalise on any slip-ups from the Blues as the Premier League season reaches its climax.

The Gunners have been in fine form in the Premier League in recent weeks, winning nine of their last 10 games to move up to second place in the table.

We want to go as high as we can until the end of the season

Saturday’s thumping 4-1 win over Liverpool at Emirates Stadium moved the north London side to within seven points of Jose Mourinho’s table-toppers.

Wenger’s side travel to Burnley on Saturday afternoon before Chelsea’s clash with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Sunday.

And the Frenchman is backing his side to keep the pressure on the west London side as the season edges towards its conclusion.

“There is quite a good distance to Chelsea but we will work very hard to reduce that,” Wenger told a news conference at Arsenal’s training ground on Thursday morning.

“They have a difficult schedule, we have a difficult schedule. All we can do is master our own schedule and it’s difficult to speculate on that.

“We want to go as high as we can until the end of the season and give our best.

“We are in an important moment of the Premier League season and it’s a period where you show your quality by focusing on the next game.”

Arsenal continue the defence of their FA Cup crown when they take on Reading in the semi-finals at Wembley later this month.
