Bacary Sagna: My response to Arsenal fans about Man City move
Bacary Sagna insists that he has no regrets about his decision to join Manchester City from Arsenal
Bacary Sagna insists that he made the right choice in leaving Arsenal to join Manchester City, claiming that he has no regrets about the transfer.
The French defender has made just 16 appearances in all competitions for Manuel Pellegrini’s men this season after joining the defending Premier League champions on a free transfer last summer.
Sagna, who made more than 200 league appearances for Arsenal between 2007 and 2014 after joining the north London side from Auxerre, has had to compete with first-choice right-back Pablo Zabaleta at Etihad Stadium this season.
However, the 32-year-old defender insists that he has no regrets about his decision to leave Emirates Stadium for The Etihad.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Sagna said: “No, not at all [I don’t regret the transfer].
“I see a lot of comments from fans saying I should have stayed at Arsenal but if I had to do it again, if I had to come back and sign for City, I would have done it again.”
He continued: “Zabaleta’s been here for a long time, he’s a great player. For me and for the manager it is maybe not easy to make the decision who’s to start but every time I get to play I give the maximum for the team,
“I’m here to look forward and to progress and I think I did.”
Sagna will be hoping to feature when City host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. The Citizens are currently fourth in the Premier League table heading into their final five games of the season.
