Blackburn 0 Liverpool 1: Player ratings as Simon Mignolet sparkles

Player ratings as Liverpool beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 to set up an FA Cup semi-final clash with Aston Villa at Wembley

Blackburn Rovers

Simon Eastwood Made two decent saves. The first one from Sterling’s shot which he tipped over, the second one from a low drive which he palmed away to safety. 6/10

Adam Henley Stood up well to the challenge that Sterling posed as he continually tried to use his pace against him. 6

Alex Baptiste Was outstanding and did not deserve to be on the losing side. Made two fantastic challenges on Sterling and Sturridge. 8

Matthew Kilgallon Was very good and made one outstanding header to deny Lovren at the back post following a corner. 7

Marcus Olsson Formed a good partnership with Cairney on the left-hand side and got forward quite well causing Johnson a few problems. 6

Corry Evans Lacks discipline and picked up his 13th booking of the season with a cynical challenge on Sterling. 5

Lee Williamson Used all his experience to try and disrupt Sterling and Coutinho who both looked to initiate attacks through the middle. 6

Craig Conway Was quite poor in possession of the ball but played his part in pressurising early on and nearly drew a mistake from Sakho. 5

Tom Cairney Gave everything to the cause and his swerving shot nearly caught Mignolet out but he was able to palm the ball away to safety. 6

Ben Marshall Rose really well from a corner to direct a header towards goal but was denied by a fantastic save from Mignolet. 6

Jordan Rhodes Doesn’t offer enough to the team outside of the box. Is a predatory striker and wasn’t given enough service. 5

Substitutes

Rudy Gestede Offered a unique threat with his aerial ability and certainly gave Toure and Lovren something more to think about when he came on. 6

Liverpool

Simon Mignolet Was back to his best today making two brilliant saves. The first from Carney which he palmed away, the second a deflected header which he tipped onto the post. 8

Glen Johnson Questions still remain over his productivity in defence but he was a good outlet going forward. 6

Dejan Lovren Much more assured in defence and showed why Liverpool paid some a huge sum of money for him – was commanding. 7

Mamadou Sakho Pulled his hamstring which ended his night but didn’t look overly confident when he was playing. Dawdled on the ball and nearly allowed Conway to get past him and score – luckily he made a good covering tackle. 5

Alberto Moreno Never seems to convince as a wing-back although his pace makes him a potent weapon if used correctly. 5

Jordan Henderson Wasn’t at his most influential but still played a vital part in the goal. His quick thinking allowed Coutinho the time to rifle the ball into the back of the net. 6

Lucas Leiva Has not been the same since returning from injury and looks clumsy in possession, and when making a tackle. 5

Joe Allen Much better from the Welshman who performed the box-to-box role really well. Never stopped running throughout the game. 7

Philippe Coutinho Scored the winning goal after an excellent one-two with Henderson powering the ball past the keepers’ outstretched arm. 7

Daniel Sturridge His first touch was awful throughout the game and his finishing was also poor. Chose to dink the ball when he had the chance to score, a powerful shot would have been the better option. 5

Raheem Sterling Offered a threat with his pace and was changing positions all the time to cause Blackburn a variety of problems. 7

Substitutes

Kolo Toure Did very well when he unexpectedly came on and made a number of great challenges and defensive headers. 7
