Blind, Jones and more: Twitter reacts as Man United thrash Man City

Daley Blind and Phil Jones both tweet their thoughts as Manchester United come from behind to beat Manchester City 4-2

Manchester United thrashed local rivals Manchester City 4-2 on Sunday to keep up their impressive recent form.

The visitors took the lead in the eighth minute at Old Trafford thanks to Sergio Aguero’s opener, however United fought back and Ashley Young levelled in the 14th minute.

United then took the lead when Marouane Fellaini scored in the 27th minute, before goals from Juan Mata and Chris Smalling added gloss to the scoreline.

Aguero pulled a goal back with his 100th strike for Manchester City but United triumphed to move to within one point of second-placed Arsenal.

Sunday’s big game prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here are some of our favourite post-match updates.

Chris Smalling (@ChrisSmalling) is quick to tweet after the final whistle: “Buzzing with the result and nice to chip in with a goal!! Manchester is Red @ManUtd #MUFC”

Danny Higginbotham (@Higginbotham05) gives his take on proceedings: “Result today came down to two things for @ManUtd determination and desire after going a goal down and the way Manchester City started.”

Phil Jones (@PhilJones4) is a happy man: “Yesss!! Great result today! Manchester is Red! #MUFC”

Mario Melchiot (@MarioMelchiot) expects big things next season: “Van Gaal’s teams always take some time but knowing him next season #ManUtd is going to try to win the tittle #mmlove ”

Bryan Robson (@bryanrobson) chimes in: “Great win onwards and upwards @ManUtd #mufc #derby”

Daley Blind keeps it short and simple on Instagram: “Manchester is Red #MUFC”

Alan Tonge (@Alan_Tonge) praises Michael Carrick: “Carrick was magic again. Unhurried, aware, un-flustered. I can remember @NormanWhiteside being like that. Could find space in a phone box!”

And that just leaves Phil Neville to have the final say on Instagram: “What a great day”
