Brendan Rodgers still the best man for Liverpool, says Ian Wright

Arsenal legend Ian Wright says Brendan Rodgers deserves another season at Anfield despite 1-0 loss to Hull

Ian Wright has reassured Liverpool supporters that Brendan Rodgers is still the right man for the Anfield job.

The Reds slipped to their third defeat in four Premier League games on Tuesday night after a 1-0 defeat by relegation-threatened Hull City at KC Stadium.

German coach Jurgen Klopp has been linked with the Liverpool position in recent days after the 47-year-old confirmed that he will leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

However, Arsenal legend Wright feels Rodgers deserves another season on Merseyside after the Northern Irishman led the Reds to a second-place finish last term.

Wright told BreatheSport: “Right now I believe Brendan is the best man. When he went on that run in the middle of the season everyone was saying he was the second coming.

“I think he has one more season.”

Former Tottenham Hotspur captain Michael Dawson scored a 37th-minute winner to seal Hull’s 1-0 victory over the 18-time English champions last night.

Liverpool are seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the hunt to secure a Champions League spot with four Premier League games remaining.

The Reds face Queens Park Rangers at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
