Carragher, Owen and more: Twitter reacts as Liverpool edge past Blackburn

Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen both tweet their thoughts as Liverpool beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 to reach the FA Cup semi-finals

Liverpool booked their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup thanks to a 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Philippe Coutinho scored the eventual winner in the 70th minute when he drilled home a low shot from close range.

The win means that Liverpool will now face Aston Villa at Wembley for a place in May’s final later this month.

Wednesday’s game prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here are some of our favourite post-match updates.

Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) is a happy man and singles out his star performers: “Massive result for Lfc. Well done Mignolet! Sterling & Coutinho gave the attack the penetration it needed 2nd half.”

John Aldridge (@Realaldo474) is not so happy with Kevin Friend’s performance: “Another inept referee!just glad he didn’t cost us.Good fighting effort but,Not a good performance but we,ll take it!and move on to wembley.”

Michael Owen (@themichaelowen) is delighted for his former club: “Huge win for Liverpool. A trip to Wembley awaits. Happy days.”

Ian Wright (@IanWright0) was disappointed by Rovers’ display: “Maybe someone should have told Blackburn the winners go to Wembley! Their best effort came from their goalie!”

Former Anfield favourite Luis Garcia (@LuchoGarcia14) is a happy man: “Great win for Liverpool 1 vs Blackburn 0. @Phil_Coutinho proved again how important he is for the club, Present and Future. #YNWA”

Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) singles out the goal-scorer for special praise: “What a marvellous little player Coutinho is.”

And that just leaves injured Liverpool defender Jose Enrique (@Jesanchez3) to have the final say: “Well done boys!!!! Next game at wembley!!! Great night for the team. Amazing the supporters as always.”
