Chelsea star gushes with praise for Eden Hazard ahead of Leicester trip
John Terry singles out Eden Hazard for special praise ahead of Chelsea's trip to Leicester on Wednesday
John Terry reserved special praise for Eden Hazard after watching the Chelsea playmaker scoop the PFA player of the year award on Sunday night.
The Belgium international beat off competition from the likes of Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez to win the prestigious prize after being voted the young player of the year last season.
Hazard has been in sparkling form for Chelsea this season and has scored 13 goals and made eight assists to help Jose Mourinho’s men close in on their first Premier League title since 2010.
And Chelsea captain Terry feels that his team-mate was a worthy winner of the prize as the Blues prepare to take on Leicester on Wednesday night.
Terry told Chelsea’s website: “It is a great individual honour and one of the best, being voted by your fellow professionals who you play against.
“Eden winning it above some great players is a big achievement. He has been excellent. As a whole Chelsea have been great and individually he has set the Premier League alight again.
“He did last year and won the Young Player and to do it again this season is exceptional. He is up there with Messi and Ronaldo for sure. He is young, hungry and he can only get better.”
Chelsea need just two wins from their remaining five games to lift the Premier League title. The west London side are currently 10 points clear at the top of the table heading into Wednesday’s clash.
