Chelsea’s Eden Hazard up there with the best, says Jose Mourinho
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho runs the rule over Blues match-winner Eden Hazard
Jose Mourinho says Chelsea forward Eden Hazard is performing at the same level as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Belgium international edged Chelsea one step closer to the Premier League title after he scored a first-half winner to seal a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Hazard was nominated for the PFA player and young player of the year awards thanks to the Blues star’s eye-catching performances in the Premier League this term, scoring 13 goals in 32 appearances.
And Chelsea manager Mourinho is in no doubt that his 24-year-old talisman is currently at the same level as his Barcelona and Real Madrid rivals.
“He’s a kid, but he is also a family man and he knows he is one of the three best players in the world, responsibility comes with that and he is coping with that responsibility,” Mourinho is quoted as saying by Goal.com.
“If people want to be fair, he gets that award [Player of the Year]. But the award I want him to win is the Premier League. I’ve had lots of stars, but he’s the humble star. He’s a great kid.
“Physically, mentally he’s getting very, very strong. He understands his role. He understands his talent is fundamental for the team.”
Earlier on Monday, Hazard took to Instagram to reflect on his strike against the Red Devils after he helped Chelsea move 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Hazard wrote on Instagram: “Good morning @didierdrogba”
Chelsea make the trip across London to face Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.
