Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois singles out Man United danger man
Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois warns the Blues that Marouane Fellaini will be a threat on Saturday evening
Thibaut Courtois has warned his Chelsea team-mates that Marouane Fellaini will be Manchester United’s danger man at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
The towering midfielder has emerged as a key player in Louis van Gaal’s current system after initially appearing out-of-favour under the 63-year-old manager.
Fellaini scored in the Manchester derby last weekend as the Red Devils warmed up for their trip to the league leaders with a 4-2 victory over the defending champions.
Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois is aware of the threat that his compatriot poses as the Blues look to end United’s six-game winning streak in the Premier League.
“He is obviously very strong and dangerous with his head. He’s a real box-to-box player, he can be in defence and five seconds later upfront and scoring,” Courtois is quoted as saying by Daily Express.
You have to be very attentive. Manchester United have a lot of other good players to decide a match, so we are not completely focused on Fellaini.
“But we know that when he comes into the box, he is very dangerous, so I will probably have to come out to collect crosses into the box. Of course, we know about him and hope to keep him out.”
Fellaini, who moved to United in a contentious £27.5m deal from Everton in the summer of 2013, has scored five goals in his last six games for club and country.
The giant Belgian midfielder netted in emphatic wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City over the past four weeks.
