Eden Hazard can match Cristiano Ronaldo, says former Chelsea man
Former Chelsea defender Paulo Ferreira says Eden Hazard can become a world-class player
Eden Hazard has the potential to become as good as Cristiano Ronaldo, according to former Chelsea defender Paulo Ferreira.
The Belgium international is among the nominees for the PFA player and young player of the year awards after a series of influential performances throughout the Premier League campaign.
The 24-year-old, who was linked with a move to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain last year, has scored 12 times and has made eight goals for his team-mates in 31 top-flight games.
Former Portugal international Ferreira, who played with Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo in their national side, believes Hazard is one the path to becoming a world-class player.
“They are different players in my opinion but if he keeps doing like he’s doing he has a good chance to reach that level as well,” Ferreira told talkSPORT.
“I’m very pleased to have a player like him.”
Hazard has netted 17 goals in 44 games in all competitions for the west London side over the course of the season.
The Belgian star has won the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup since his big-money move to Stamford Bridge from Lille in 2012.
