Eden Hazard will be as good as Lionel Messi, says Chelsea star
Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer backs Eden Hazard to become one of the best players in the world
Eden Hazard can be as good as Barcelona striker Lionel Messi and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
The Belgium international edged Chelsea one step closer to the Premier League title after he scored a first-half winner to seal a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
If he keeps doing what he’s doing then there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll be able to be compared with Messi and Ronaldo
Hazard was nominated for the PFA player and young player of the year awards thanks to the Blues star’s eye-catching performances in the Premier League this term, scoring 13 goals in 32 appearances.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Blues shot stopper Schwarzer described the Chelsea forward as an unbelievable talent ahead of the west London side’s clash against Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
“Who are we to argue with Pele? I have to agree with him,” the Leicester goalkeeper said, when asked about Hazard’s comparisons to the top two players in the world.
“He’s still got some way to go but he’s a phenomenal player. This season alone the step up from last season, in term of his consistency and level of play, has been extraordinary.
“If he keeps doing what he’s doing then there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll be able to be compared with Messi and Ronaldo.”
Chelsea can move 13 points clear of second-placed Arsenal if the Premier League leaders can secure victory at Emirates Stadium.
The Blues were crowned League Cup winners earlier this season after a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
