Gary Neville defends ‘boring’ Chelsea and blasts pathetic title rivals
Gary Neville says Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool all deserve criticism
Gary Neville has rubbished talk of Chelsea being a boring side and has criticised the chasing pack for the pathetic attempts this season.
The Blues have been criticised in recent weeks after Jose Mourinho’s side edged to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Manchester United before playing out a goalless draw with Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.
I have to say Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have got to do so much better next season
Chelsea moved to within one victory of the Premier League title on Wednesday night after the west London side came from behind to seal a 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Leicester City at King Power Stadium.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Red Devils legend Neville inisisted Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and United deserved to be criticised for their poor efforts throughout the campaign irrespective of Chelsea’s performances.
“I don’t get it at all,” Neville said.
“If we’re criticising anybody it should be the pathetic attempt at chasing them this season and putting up a fight.
“I have to say Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have got to do so much better next season. The last team that we should be criticising are Chelsea. They are the ones that have gone on and done the job.
“They have extended their lead tonight, they are by far in front and they have been by far the best team this season. They haven’t lost a game since New Year’s Day.
“It’s the other teams that should really be criticised. This Chelsea team have done everything you ask of what will be the champion team.”
The Blues are 13 points clear of their nearest rivals Manchester City and Arsenal ahead of their home game against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho is bidding to win his third Premier League title in charge of Chelsea.
