Gary Neville: Why Arsenal are the favourites to finish second

Gary Neville believes that Arsenal are the favourites to finish second in the Premier League this season

Gary Neville believes that Arsenal are favourites to finish as runners-up to Chelsea in the Premier League this season on current form.

The Gunners moved up to second place in the Premier League table this weekend thanks to a thumping 4-1 win over Liverpool at Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger’s men are currently in the best form in the English top flight, with the north London side having won nine of their last 10 games.

Former Manchester United defender Neville feels that the Gunners are the front-runners to secure second place this season – but admitted that the table could still change significantly during the final seven games of the campaign.

Speaking on Sky Sports on Monday night, Neville said: “Probably [Arsenal are the favourites to finish second]. At the moment they’re in the best form.

“They’ve still got some difficult fixtures themselves – they’ve still got to go to Old Trafford. I think we’re stupid to predict at this moment in time but they are in great form.

“But we were sat here three weeks ago talking three weeks ago talking about Liverpool potentially going above United at the weekend, about how it would be difficult for United to go to Anfield, and now we’re sat here thinking Liverpool are out of the top four and United are there. It changes so quickly.”

Arsenal, who host leaders Chelsea on 26 April and head to Manchester United on 17 May, travel to Burnley in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon. The Gunners beat Burnley 3-0 at Emirates Stadium back in November.
