Jamie Carragher criticises Liverpool players after FA Cup defeat
Jamie Carragher was not impressed by what he saw from Liverpool in Sunday's loss to Aston Villa
Jamie Carragher has criticised the attitudes of some of the Liverpool squad after Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final defeat at the hands of Aston Villa.
Liverpool took the lead in the 30th minute of the semi-final clash at Wembley thanks to Philippe Coutinho’s deflected effort, but Christian Benteke soon drew Tim Sherwood’s men level when he fired home six minutes later.
Villa dominated proceedings in the second half and took the lead when Fabian Delph drilled past Simon Mignolet nine minutes after half-time.
Mario Balotelli had the ball in the Villa net late on but was adjudged to have been offside. Replays showed that the striker was in fact onside, as Villa held firm to book their place in next months final against Arsenal.
The defeat ended Liverpool’s hopes of winning a trophy this season, with the Reds also facing an uphill struggle to finish in the Premier League’s top four.
And former Liverpool defender Carragher took to Twitter to admit that he was not impressed by what he saw from the Reds at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
Big games need big players to do big things. Not many of them at Lfc which make wages demands of some ridiculous & the recruitment worse.
