Jamie Redknapp: Chilled-out Eden Hazard is just what Chelsea need
Jamie Redknapp sings Eden Hazard's praises after Chelsea's 2-1 win over Stoke on Saturday
Jamie Redknapp believes that Chelsea are benefiting from Eden Hazard’s “relaxed” attitude as the Blues close in on the Premier League title.
The Belgian playmaker was on target as Jose Mourinho’s men took a step closer to their first league title since 2010 with a 2-1 victory over Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Hazard has been one of the driving forces behind Chelsea’s Premier League title charge this season, scoring 12 goals and making seven assists in 30 top-flight games this season.
And former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp has been impressed by what he has seen from the playmaker so far this season.
Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail: “A few weeks ago I was talking to John Terry and we got round to discussing Eden Hazard. John told me that Hazard was the most relaxed player he had ever played with.
“He is so chilled out on and off the pitch but that’s exactly what Chelsea needed against Stoke. In a match where some of his team-mates looked overcome with fear, Hazard was playing a different game.
“He’s only 24 but the Belgian is already the man Chelsea seek out when they need something special. It was his desire and creativity that led to Loic Remy’s winner and that could be a defining result in their bid for the title.”
Chelsea, who have won seven of their last 10 top-flight games, travel to Queens Park Rangers in their next Premier League game on Sunday afternoon.
The 24-year-old playmaker has scored five goals and made two assists in his last 10 games in all competitions for Chelsea.
