Jose Mourinho can improve Chelsea squad, says ex-Man United man
Former Manchester United midfielder Johnny Giles reckons Jose Mourinho won't be satisfied with Chelsea squad this summer
Johnny Giles believes Jose Mourinho will be eager to improve his Chelsea squad in the summer despite a dominant performance in the Premier League this season.
The Blues are 10 points clear of their nearest rivals Arsenal at the top of the table ahead of their clash against the Gunners in north London on Sunday afternoon.
In Mourinho’s mind, he knows who he wants and where he wants to improve. He won’t rest on his laurels
Mourinho, who sealed a return to Stamford Bridge in June 2013, spent £25.4m on Colombia international Juan Cuadrado in the January transfer window after he signed Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Filipe Luis last summer.
But former United midfielder Giles reckons Mourinho, like Red Devils legend Sir Alex Ferguson, won’t get complacent despite cantering to the Premier League title.
“I haven’t seen a team that can’t improve. Chelsea can definitely improve. I saw them against QPR and they weren’t that great,” Giles told Newstalk’s Off The Ball show.
“If you look at Sir Alex Ferguson, how many times did he improve the team despite winning everything in a season.
“It is never perfect. So you have the resources to do it and in Mourinho’s mind, he knows who he wants and where he wants to improve. He won’t rest on his laurels.”
Chelsea eased further clear at the top of the Premier League table last weekend courtesy of a 1-0 victory over United at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho hasn’t lost to Wenger’s Arsenal side in 12 meetings, including a 2-0 victory over the Gunners at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.
