Liverpool defender runs rule over ‘amazing’ Emre Can
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren heaps praise on German youngster Emre Can
Dejan Lovren has heaped praise on Liverpool team-mate Emre Can after the pair helped the Reds keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United on Monday night.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was forced to partner Lovren with the German youngster as Martin Skrtel continues to serve his three-game ban for stamping on David De Gea.
Although the £25m summer signing experienced a number of shaky moments against the Magpies, Can showed his composure alongside the Croatia international.
And Lovren, who swapped Southampton for Liverpool in 2014, believes Can is capable of playing in a number of different positions for the Merseyside outfit.
“It was the first time Emre [Can] and I played together, because he’s not used to being in the back four,” Lovren is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
“He did an amazing job. He’s doing a great job here at Liverpool. He can play in almost every position. He’s unbelievable.”
Liverpool eased to a 2-0 victory over 10-man Newcastle courtesy of goals from Arsenal target Raheem Sterling and Wales international Joe Allen.
The Reds are bidding to reach their first cup final under manager Rodgers as Liverpool face Aston Villa in the FA Cup last-four at Wembley on Sunday.
