Liverpool transfers: Andre Ayew lifts lid on affection for Reds
Marseille striker Andre Ayew reveals that he is a lifelong Liverpool fan amid talk of a potential move to Anfield
Andre Ayew has opened the door to a potential move to Liverpool after the striker revealed his affection for the Merseyside outfit.
The Reds have been linked with a move for a forward in the summer transfer window following the various injuries to Mario Balotelli and Daniel Sturridge this season.
The 25-year-old Marseille star has been touted as a potential target for Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City throughout the course of the season.
And the Ghana international lifted the lid on his love for the Reds in an interview with Sky Sports, fuelling talk of a potential move to Anfield.
Ayew said: “All my life I have been a Liverpool fan,” Ayew told Sky Sports. “When I was young I was watching the Liverpool games.
“Steven Gerrard is my favourite player. It will not be easy to see him leave in the summer, but we all need a new challenge.
“I have had a lot of different offers from different countries, but I will have to discuss with Marseille.
“I will make a decision soon, and look at the offers that are coming in and decide what is best for my future.”
Ayew, who moved to Ligue 1 side Marseille in 2007, has scored 41 goals in 148 top-flight appearances over the past five season.
The Ghanian has enjoyed a decent 2014/15 campaign so far, netting seven times in 22 Ligue 1 appearances.
Ayew was part of Ghana’s squad for their recent World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations campaigns.
