Liverpool transfers: Nabil Fekir responds to talk of move
Liverpool target Nabil Fekir insists that he has no plans to quit Lyon this summer
Nabil Fekir has dealt Liverpool and Arsenal a blow in their hopes of signing him this summer after the France international insisted that he is happy at Lyon.
Fekir’s future at the Ligue 1 club has been a subject of speculation in recent days, with both the Gunners and the Reds reportedly keen on luring the midfielder to the Premier League.
However, the 21-year-old, who has scored 12 goals so far this season, has now poured cold water on the speculation suggesting that he could be set to quit the Lyon by pledging his future to the French side.
Fekir is quoted as saying by Metro: “I feel very good here. There is everything in Lyon, my family, my friends.
“The staff and my team-mates have confidence in me. We have a young squad, there’s a great atmosphere. That’s also what makes us strong right now.
“I want to stay at Lyon to build on my season, while hoping that we qualify for the Champions League. There is everything for me to stay in Lyon, it’s the club of my heart. I want to help it go as high as possible.
“I hope I’ll be a Lyon player next season. There’s no reason I won’t be. I’m still a young player, I need to progress in an environment where I feel good. There is everything in Lyon.”
Fekir made his international debut for France back in March and has two senior caps to his name.
Arsenal return to Premier League action when they travel to Hull City in the Premier League on Monday night.
Liverpool, meanwhile, host Queens Park Rangers at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
