Robin van Persie reveals that he has returned to full training with Manchester United ahead of Sunday's derby
Robin van Persie has revealed that he returned to full training with Manchester United on Wednesday ahead of Sunday’s crunch derby clash with Manchester City at Old Trafford.
The Dutch striker has been out of action since picking up an ankle injury during United’s 2-1 defeat by Swansea City in the Premier League back in February.
However, the 31-year-old forward took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to reveal his delight at being able to return to action with his team-mates at Carrington.
“Back to training with the group today,” Van Persie tweeted.
“Was a great session. Happy to be fit and able to play again. Looking forward to my next game!”
Van Persie scored 10 Premier League goals and made two assists in 24 games for the Red Devils prior to his injury setback in February.
United moved up to third place in the Premier League table on Saturday thanks to their 2-1 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils head into Sunday’s clash with City a point ahead of their fierce local rivals, who slipped to a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Monday night.
