Man United transfers: Jurgen Klopp gives Mats Hummels update
Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp says Mats Hummels is weighing up a move to Manchester United
Mats Hummels is weighing up a potential move to Manchester United, according to Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout much of the season as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his defensive options at the club.
Hummels has previously played down talk of a move away from the Bundesliga club despite Dortmund’s disappointing top-flight campaign domestically and in Europe.
However, Klopp has handed the Red Devils a boost in their bid to sign the centre-half after the Dortmund manager confirmed that his captain is thinking over a possible switch.
“He’s good enough for Manchester United. He’s told me he’s thinking things over,” Klopp is quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “We’re always looking around the market ourselves.
“That we want to keep Mats is beyond question. How that works out I don’t know. There’s always a list of players who would be interesting in the event that you need them.”
Hummels, who was part of Germany’s World Cup-winning squad last summer, has a deal with the 2013 Champions League runners-up that is set to run until 2017.
The Dortmund centre-half has scored one goal in 19 Bundesliga appearances this season, racking up 1,582 top-flight minutes of action.
