Man United transfers: PSV confirm Memphis Depay interest
PSV Eindhoven technical manager Marcel Brands confirms that Man United have enquired about Memphis Depay
Manchester United have made an enquiry into the availability of Memphis Depay, according to PSV Eindhoven chief Marcel Brands.
The Netherlands international was celebrating with his PSV team-mates on Saturday after the Dutch club were crowned Eredivisie champions after a 4-1 victory over Heerenveen.
“If it comes to a deal, he must make the choice. Then it’s up to us to come out with such a club
Depay has played a key role in bringing back the Eredivisie trophy to Eindhoven after the winger scored 20 goals in 27 league games, prompting reports of interest from United.
PSV technical manager Brands confirmed that the Red Devils have expressed an interest in the 21-year-old before he added that there had been no talks over a potential transfer.
“There is serious interest [in Depay] from big clubs. We’ve had a phone call [from Manchester United] but there were no talks yet,” Brands is quoted as saying by Daily Star.
“If it comes to a deal, he must make the choice. Then it’s up to us to come out with such a club.”
Tottenham and Liverpool are among the other Premier League clubs linked with a move for the forward.
Depay became the youngest Dutchman to score a goal at a World Cup after the winger netted against Australia in the group stage last summer.
The PSV youngster, who was named on the three-man shortlist for the World Cup’s best young player award, came off the bench to score against Chile in Holland’s final group-stage fixture.
