Michael Owen: Arsenal look like having a very good season

Liverpool legend Michael Owen runs the rule over Arsenal's promising end to the season

Michael Owen says Arsenal will have enjoyed a “very good season” if the Gunners win the FA Cup and finish as Premier League runners-up.

The Gunners were facing a crisis after a mixed run in the Premier League before Arsene Wenger’s side lost on aggregate to Monaco in the Champions League last-16.

All of a sudden it looks like they are going to win the FA Cup now, looks like they are going to come 2nd in the league and it will be a decent season for Arsenal

However, the north London side have won their last eight Premier League games, including victories over Liverpool, Everton and West Ham United.

Arsenal reached successive FA Cup finals on Saturday thanks to their 2-1 extra-time win against Championship side Reading at Wembley.

Speaking to BT Sport, Owen spoke of his surprise that the Gunners are now facing a positive end to the season after their previous turmoil.

“It’s ironic, we were talking about a crisis at Arsenal only a few months ago and they were struggling around 4th or 5th saying ‘are they going to get into the top 4?’ knocked out the Champions League, hanging on in the FA Cup.

“All of a sudden it looks like they are going to win the FA Cup now, looks like they are going to come 2nd in the league and it will be a decent season for Arsenal, a very good season for Arsenal. It’s amazing how the game can change in the space of a month or so.”

Arsenal can move to within seven points of Premier League leaders Chelsea if the Gunners beat Jose Mourinho’s side at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The north Londoners have dropped any points since a 2-1 defeat by bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in early February.
