Nacho Monreal: Why I feel so comfortable at Arsenal now

Nacho Monreal says that his confidence is at an all time high at Arsenal

Nacho Monreal says that his confidence is at an all time high and that he is feeling more settled than ever at Arsenal.

The Spanish defender has been in good form for the north London club in recent months and scored Arsenal’s opening goal during the 2-1 FA Cup win over Manchester United last month.

And the 29-year-old, who joined the north London club from Malaga back in January 2013, says that he is now feeling completely settled at the club.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, Monreal said: “I feel really good living in London, I’m very happy living here and playing for Arsenal.

“I think I’m more British now. It’s always difficult, coming to London. It’s another country, another language, different football.

“It’s never easy, the first months are the worst because the life is not easy. You have to find a house, you have to meet other players, learn English as quick as possible, it’s never easy.

“Really we can only do one thing and that is to train hard and well, so the boss can see that you are training well and that you want to play. You can do nothing more than that.

“I think that I’m playing really well because I’m playing a lot of games. I feel fit and my confidence is very high.

Monreal will be hoping to feature when Arsenal take on Reading at Wembley on Saturday in their FA Cup semi-final as they look to defend the title they won last season.

The Spaniard has made 24 Premier League appearances for the north London side so far this season and has notched up one assist in the process.

Arsenal are currently second in the table and seven points behind Chelsea.
