Petr Cech: Chelsea entering new era under Jose Mourinho
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is tipping the Blues to enjoy a dominant spell in the Premier League
Petr Cech believes Chelsea are entering a new glorious era under Jose Mourinho.
The Blues are on the brink of Premier League title glory after a 3-1 victory over Leicester City at King Power Stadium on Wednesday night.
Hopefully, we will confirm the title on Sunday and then this team will continue to win things
Jose Mourinho’s side will be crowned champions if the west London side beat Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday.
Cech, who has been linked with a move to their bitter rivals Arsenal at the end of the season, is excited about Chelsea’s future with so much young talent coming through.
“The last title was in 2010 so it’s been a long time. That’s why this one is hopefully the start of a new era with another generation of players,” Cech is quoted as saying by London Evening Standard.
“Obviously there is only me, JT and Didier who have been here for the last decade, so you can say this is a new generation of Chelsea. Hopefully, we will confirm the title on Sunday and then this team will continue to win things.”
Cech has already won two Premier League titles under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, whilst the Czech Republic international was also part of Carlo Ancelotti’s title-winning side in 2010.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper has barely featured for the Londoners in the Premier League this season after falling behind Belgium international Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order.
