Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere reveals his pride at being English on social media
Jack Wilshere took social media on Thursday afternoon to express his pride at being English on St George’s Day.
The Arsenal midfielder posted a picture of himself presumably on international duty with England on his Instagram account and posted a message in which he declared himself “proud” and “blessed” to be born in the country.
Wilshere uploaded the picture above onto the photo-sharing app and wrote: “Each day I wake up feeling proud and blessed to born English, that is a gift that nobody can ever take away from me. Enjoy your St. Georges Day because you are special just like your country.”
The 23-year-old Wilshere has not featured for Arsenal since damaging ankle ligaments during the loss to Manchester United back at the end of November.
However, after making his recovery from another minor ankle operation earlier this year, he is now closing in on a return to first-team action.
He could be involved when Arsenal take on Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Gunners head into the clash with the London rivals second in the Premier League table and 10 points behind Jose Mourinho’s leaders.
