Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson takes to Instagram after signing new five-year deal
Jordan Henderson has taken to Instagram to react to his new five-year Liverpool contract.
The Reds vice-captain, who is widely tipped to succeed Steven Gerrard as the Merseyside club’s skipper at the end of the season, signed a new long-term contract on Thursday afternoon.
Henderson, who moved to Liverpool from boyhood club Sunderland in 2011, has scored six goals and has made eight assists in 31 Premier League appearances this season.
The Reds midfielder expressed his delight to commit to the 18-time English champions, speaking of his belief that Liverpool will challenge for silverware in the future.
Henderson posted the above photo and wrote on Instagram: “Very proud to commit my future to this great club. Looking forward to achieving great things here. Thanks for all your support. #YNWA”
Henderson was appointed as the new Liverpool vice-captain at the start of the season after Denmark international Daniel Agger sealed a return to Brondby.
The England midfielder has scored 20 goals in 180 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions since his £20m move to Anfield from the Stadium of Light.
