Liverpool train at Melwood ahead of their Premier League clash with Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime

Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling appeared to be in good spirits as Liverpool were put through their paces at Melwood ahead of Saturday’s Premier League trip to Arsenal.

The Reds head to Emirates Stadium knowing that a defeat would leave their hopes of Champions League qualification hanging by a thread.

Liverpool are currently six points behind third-placed Arsenal and five adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United heading into the final eight games of the season.

And Brendan Rodgers’ men will be looking for a victory to boost their hopes of qualifying for Europe’s elite club competition.

Sturridge and Sterling were among the players pictured in Thursday morning’s training session at Melwood as the Reds prepared for their trip to London on Saturday lunchtime.

Liverpool suffered a 2-1 defeat by Manchester United in their most recent Premier League outing.
