Tottenham’s Ryan Mason: I’ll never forget England debut

Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason reflects on his dream England debut in a 1-1 draw with Italy

Ryan Mason says he will never forget his England debut after the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder helped to create Andros Townsend’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Italy on Tuesday night.

The 23-year-old Spurs star was a second-half substitute for Liverpool vice-captain Jordon Henderson with Italy leading 1-0 thanks to Graziano Pelle’s deft header in the opening 45 at Juventus Stadium.

Mason came off the bench to tee up Tottenham team-mate Townsend for a 79th-minute equaliser after the winger curled a finish past Italy and Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon.

England latest debutant was still revelling in his Three Lions bow on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.

Mason wrote: “Dream come true to make my England debut last night, will never forget that moment #proud”

Fiorentina defender Micah Richards was quick to heap praise on the Tottenham midfielder, who has scored one goal and has made three assists 23 Premier League games this season.

Richards posted: “@Ryan_Mason13 keep it up!!!”

Mason could be in action for the north London side this weekend when Tottenham face Burnely at Turf Moor.
