Watch Jack Nowell beat Arsenal and Chelsea stars at crossbar challenge
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gary Cahill take on George Ford and Jack Nowell in crossbar challenge to celebrate St George's Day
Jack Nowell appeared to be the clear winner when members of England’s football and rugby squads joined up for a game of crossbar challenge.
Arsenal forward Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Chelsea defender Gary Cahill were the selected representatives from Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions team.
Nowell and George Ford, meanwhile, were the candidates from Stuart Lancaster’s Red Rose squad fresh from a disappointing end to the Six Nations.
And Exeter Chief star Nowell looked to impress the most after England rugby’s Instagram account uploaded a video of the winger smacking an attempt onto the crossbar.
The caption wrote: “Happy #stgeorgesday! To celebrate, @garyjcahill & @alexoxchamberlain took on @jacknowell & @george_fordy in a special cross-code challenge #englandconnected”
Chelsea centre-half Cahill clearly enjoyed the experience after the 30-year-old uploaded a snap with Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ford and Nowell to his Instagram page on Thursday morning.
Cahill uploaded the following caption: “Happy S.George’s Day everyone! You can see me, @alexoxchamberlain @jacknowell & @george_fordy in a special Rugby v Football crossbar challenge , the video is on my Facebook page. #England #StGeorgesDay #TogetherforEngland #proud #RFU #ThreeLions #football #rugby #crossbarchallenge”
The Blues defender could be marking his England colleague when Jose Mourinho’s side make the trip across London to face Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Chelsea are 10 points clear of Arsene Wenger’s second-placed side.
