Wayne Rooney congratulates Chelsea and Tottenham stars on PFA awards
Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney pays tribute to PFA winners Eden Hazard and Harry Kane
Wayne Rooney has offered his congratulations to Chelsea forward Eden Hazard and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane after their PFA triumphs.
The Belgium international scooped his first PFA player of the year award on Sunday night after having scored 13 top-flight goals for the Premier League leaders this season.
Kane, meanwhile, was named the PFA young player of the year following a standout season for Tottenham Hotspur, which he capped with his first England call-up last month.
And Three Lions captain Rooney cast aside his rivalry with the Chelsea and Tottenham stars to graciously pay tribute to the pair on his Twitter page.
Rooney wrote on Twitter: “Big congratulations to hazard and @hkane28 on there awards. Well deserved.”
Rooney made an unhappy return to his former club Everton on Sunday afternoon after the Toffees eased to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Louis van Gaal’s side.
The United captain has scored 12 goals and has made five assists in 30 Premier League appearances for the 20-time English champions this season.
