Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Reading clash
Arsene Wenger reveals that Jack Wilshere is fit and ready to play in Arsenal's FA Cup semi-final against Reading on Saturday
Jack Wilshere is fit and ready to feature for Arsenal in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Reading, Arsene Wenger has said.
The 23-year-old midfielder has not played for the Gunners’ first team since November after suffering an ankle ligament injury but is now on course to make his comeback.
Wilshere played 88 minutes for Arsenal’s Under-21 side on Monday night and Wenger has confirmed that the midfielder is now available for selection again.
The Arsenal manager also revealed that midfield duo Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not be ready for Saturday’s last-four clash.
Arteta has been struggling with a calf injury, while Oxlade-Chamberlain has picked up a groin problem.
“Arteta is out and Oxlade-Chamberlain is not available for selection,” Wenger told a news conference on Thursday morning. “Everybody else is all right.”
Arsenal head into Saturday’s clash in fine domestic form, having won their last eight Premier League games in succession.
The Gunners take on Reading looking to continue their defence of the title they won last season to end their nine-year wait for a trophy.
