Adam Lallana: Man United could crack under Liverpool pressure
Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is refusing to concede defeat in the race for a top-four finish
Adam Lallana is hoping that Liverpool can spring a surprise in the race for a top-four finish.
The Reds currently trail fourth-placed Manchester United by five points with three Premier League games remaining in the current campaign.
United have some tough games to play and I am sure they will drop more points
Although the Red Devils have lost three top-flight games on the spin, Liverpool have failed to capitalise after dropping points against Hull City and West Bromwich Albion.
However, Liverpool midfielder Lallana believes Brendan Rodgers’ men still have an outside chance of sneaking the final Champions League spot.
“We can still finish in the top four but we need to take maximum points now. We’ll keep fighting right to the end. We all know what can happen,” Lallana is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“United have some tough games to play and I am sure they will drop more points. We have to put pressure on United by going to Stamford Bridge and getting three points. Pressure is a tough thing to deal with.
“We need to beat Chelsea and Palace and hope it all comes down to the final weekend. We all knew that last week was a big week and it was disappointing to only get four points out of the games against West Brom, Hull and QPR.”
Lallana has scored three goals and has made four assists in 24 Premier League appearances this season following a £25m move to Anfield from Southampton last summer.
The England international has racked up just 1,544 minutes of top-fight action after a number of spells on the sidelines.
Lallana earned a big-money switch to Liverpool after he scored nine goals and made seven assists in 37 games for Southampton in the 2013/14 season.
