Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger urged to sign Argentina starlet
Charlie Nicholas wants to see Arsenal sign Luciano Vietto from Villarreal this summer
Charlie Nicholas believes that Arsene Wenger should consider making a summer transfer swoop to sign Luciano Vietto from Villarreal.
Arsenal have showed progress this season and can finish as runners-up to Chelsea in the Premier League if they win their remaining four Premier League games.
The north London side have been linked with a host of players in recent weeks as the summer transfer window approaches, with Arsene Wenger aiming to transform his side into title contenders next season.
One area which Wenger may consider strengthening is Arsenal’s front-line, despite Olivier Giroud’s good form in recent weeks.
And former Arsenal favourite Nicholas would like to see Wenger move for the 21-year-old Vietto rather than try and sign a big-name player.
Nicholas told Sky Sports: “I don’t think Wenger particularly wants or needs a new striker – we can win the league with Olivier Giroud.
“But if we are to get one in, rather than go for a big name, I’d like to see us target Luciano Vietto, the young Argentinian lad at Villarreal.
“He’s an Arsenal type of player – he’s all about good movement, but his touch is good too and I think we could get him at a good price.
“He might need a bit of time to adapt, but he’s got so much potential. We also need to re-sign Theo Walcott and keep him happy.”
Arsenal, who face Aston Villa in the FA Cup final later this month, take on Swansea City in their next Premier League game on Monday night.
