Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger urged to sign Giannelli Imbula
Roland Cheubel urges Arsenal to try and sign midfielder Giannelli Imbula from Marseille this summer
Arsene Wenger’s ex-recruitment adviser has urged the Arsenal boss to make a transfer bid to sign Giannelli Imbula this summer.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of players in recent weeks as Wenger aims to bolster his squad and transform the north London club into title contenders next season.
Marseille man Imbula, who has scored two goals and made one assist in 34 games this season, has been touted as a possible target for Wenger as the Frenchman looks to beef up his midfield.
And Roland Cheubel, who previously worked with the Arsenal boss, believes that the 22-year-old would be a good fit for the north London side, with Abou Diaby’s future at Emirates Stadium in doubt.
“Personally, I see him at Arsenal, I talk with Mathieu Flamini when he wants! He [Imbula] has remarkable technical ease, he knows what to do and he does not lose the ball, if he remains focused,” Cheubel told Le Phoceen.
“Arsenal will definitely release poor Abou Diaby and Imbula is the Diaby of tomorrow.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action when they take on Hull City at the KC Stadium on Monday night.
The Gunners can move into second place in the Premier League table if they win their game in hand over Manchester City.
