Arsenal transfers: Wenger lifts lid on summer plans
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he will go for quality over quantity during the summer transfer window
Arsene Wenger insists that he will pick quality over quantity during the summer transfer window as he looks to transform his Arsenal squad into title contenders.
The Gunners have been in fine form in recent weeks and continued their impressive run in the Premier League by sealing a 3-1 win over Hull City at the KC Stadium on Monday night.
Arsenal can finish as runners-up to Chelsea in the Premier League if they win their remaining four top-flight games, starting with Swansea City’s visit to Emirates Stadium on Monday.
The attentions have inevitably been turning towards the summer transfer window and which players the Arsenal boss will consider bringing into his side.
It was pointed out to Wenger that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino intends to add numbers to his squad this summer during a news conference on Friday, to which Wenger replied: “You want me to beat him?! I don’t think it’s the numbers we need.
“We have a squad of top quality and if we can strengthen our squad then of course we’ll do it.
“Let’s finish the season well, focus on doing well together until the end and then see who can reinforce our squad.”
Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League table.
